The Importance of Staff Screening Methods for COVID-19 Infection

Seeing as not every company has the opportunity to conduct diagnostic or on-site testing, it is important to turn to staff screening methods that can easily be conducted by everyone.

Even though these screening methods are not as effective as diagnostic testing, they still pose as practical methods to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The two most common staff screening methods are:

Temperature Screening: Symptomatic cases are easily identified via temperature screening, as a rise in temperature is a clear-cut symptom of an active COVID-19 infection. Furthermore, fever is also used to identify other diseases such as colds and influenzas, meaning that implementing such a protocol could also reduce the spread of other diseases within the work place.

Questionnaires: Another popular method is to prepare a simple employee questionnaire that should be completed upon arrival every morning. Some of the questions that should be answered are: Whether you have been exposed to any cases recently, if you have travelled recently and if you have experienced any symptoms such as fever, sore throat, headache and shortness of breath and difficulty breathing.
